How to install a wireless CarPlay box in your BMW? (2025 Guide)

Do you want to enjoy Waze, Spotify, Apple Music, WhatsApp and Siri directly on your BMW's original screen? Without changing your car radio? This guide explains how to install a wireless CarPlay box neatly, step by step, with an OEM finish.

In short

In less than 30 minutes, you'll see how:

  • Prepare your equipment (case, wiring harness, tools)
  • neatly remove the original BMW screen
  • Connect the CarPlay harness without cutting any cables
  • hide the module behind the screen for an invisible finish
  • Connect your iPhone/Android via CarPlay wirelessly

1. What you need for the installation

Before you start taking anything apart, make sure you have everything you need. The goal: to do a clean installation, all in one go.

  • A wireless CarPlay box compatible with your BMW
  • The Quadlock/LVDS plug & play wiring harness supplied with the module
  • A Torx screwdriver (often T20/T25) for the screen
  • A set of plastic tools for unclipping the trim without scratching it
  • An iPhone or Android smartphone
⏱️ Average time: 20–30 minutes
🧰 Level: beginner, provided you are at least somewhat comfortable using a screwdriver.

2. Remove the original BMW screen

To install the module, you need to access the back of the screen and the multimedia unit (CIC, NBT or NBT EVO). Don't worry: if you do things calmly, you can put everything back together exactly the same way.

2) Module harness connected to Quadlock + LVDS cable connected to the box.

4. Hide the module behind the screen

Once the cable is connected, a suitable location must be found for the housing. The objective: that it be invisible, that it not vibrate, and that it not obstruct ventilation.

5. Reassemble the screen and check that everything works

Before discussing CarPlay, we first check that the car behaves as before.

  • Screw the screen back on and replace the trim around it.
  • Turn on the ignition and test: radio, sound, PDC, reversing camera, BMW menus.

If everything works as before, it means the module is properly in place and transparent to the car.

6. Connect your iPhone/Android wirelessly via CarPlay

Now that the box is installed, you'll connect your phone and finally enjoy the Wireless CarPlay (or Android Auto).
